I can offer private one-to-one saxophone tuition in the Tiptree and surrounding areas whether you are an absolute beginner or more advanced player. Depending on your requirements, I can either come to you in your own home or I have a teaching studio in Tiptree.
Each lesson is tailored to the individual – I aim to teach you the tunes that YOU wish to learn and particularly those great saxophone tunes that made you want to play this incredible instrument!
I have a love of jazz but, am happy to teach and play all styles of music. I always like to incorporate music theory into each lesson and try to make it all very accessible. I will also show you how to build a structured and effective practise routine.
After each lesson I will email you reference sheets, music charts and MP3’s and demonstration/backing tracks used when learning tunes and improvisation techniques.
I have completed an N.V.Q. Teaching course via Access to Music (Leicester College) which incorporated a one year placement in the music department at the Colne Community College, Brightlingsea working alongside the head of music Mr Simon Lovell. As part of this course I wrote a progressive instrumental teaching plan entitled: “Thirty week improvisation course for saxophone”. I incorporate this as part of my private tuition syllabus.I have been teaching since 1995 and many of my past and present students are now teaching themselves or playing live gigs in various bands!
